Iced Matcha Lemonade

A refreshing, energizing twist on a summer favorite

Matcha lemonade is a bright and zesty way to enjoy matcha when you want something cold and uplifting. The citrus balances the earthy notes of matcha, while the vibrant green color makes it feel extra special. This drink is great for warm afternoons, post-workout refreshment, or as a caffeine alternative to iced coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Nippon Ceremonial Matcha

  • 2 oz hot water (75–80°C / 170–175°F)

  • ¾ cup cold water

  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice (about 1 large lemon)

  • 1–2 tsp simple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)

  • Ice cubes

Tools

  • Chasen (bamboo whisk) or handheld frother

  • Chawan or small bowl

  • Shaker or mixing glass (optional)

  • Tall glass

Instructions

  1. Whisk the Matcha

    • Sift 1 tsp of Nippon Matcha into a bowl.

    • Add 2 oz of hot water and whisk until smooth and frothy.

  2. Mix the Lemonade Base

    • In a shaker or mixing glass, combine cold water, lemon juice, and sweetener. Stir until fully mixed.

  3. Combine

    • Fill a tall glass with ice.

    • Pour the lemonade base over the ice.

    • Slowly pour the matcha on top for a layered effect (or stir for a uniform color).

  4. Serve

    • Garnish with a lemon slice or mint if desired.

    • Enjoy immediately while cold.

Tip: This drink is easy to batch. Just multiply the ingredients and store in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Always whisk the matcha fresh before combining for the best flavor.
